How To Tell Your Ring Size
There are several ways to tell your ring size. The most reliable way is to visit a jeweller in person and ask them to measure your finger. However, if this is not possible, there are some methods you can do from home. Your fingers can swell or shrink throughout the day, and are likely to be at their largest at the end of the day, so you will get the most accurate measurement if you measure your ring size at the end of the day.
Method One: Measure An Existing Ring
The quickest way to measure your ring size is to find a ring that already fits your finger. Simply measure the internal diameter of the ring (in mm) and use the chart below to determine your ring size.
Method Two: Universal Ring Sizer
You can use an adjustable universal ring sizer to measure yourself at home.
When using the ring sizer, make sure that the ring slides easily over the knuckle. Do not measure when your fingers are cold, as this is when your fingers are the smallest.
For the most accurate reading, measure at the end of the day when your finger is the largest. If you are in between sizes, you will be a half size.
Method 3: Tape Measure
If you don't have a universal ring sizer or set of measuring rings, you can use a flexible, stretchable tape measure. Alternatively, a pen, ruler, piece of string, or strip of paper will suffice.
- Wrap the tape measure, string or paper around your finger. Ensure it is snug but not too tight. If you're using string or paper, mark the point where the ends meet. Your ring must fit over your knuckle, so measure the base of your ring and around your knuckle. If your knuckle is significantly bigger than the base of your finger, consider using the average of these measurements.
- If you are using a tape measure, take note of the measurement. If you are using string or paper, mark the point where the ends meet. Lie the string or paper out flat next to the ruler.
- Use the ring chart below to convert your finger circumference measurement into a ring size.
