The Magic of Girlhood: Making Girly Girl Gems

When I was a little girl I loved all of the stereotypical girly things - the colour pink, barbie dolls, princesses, mermaids, glitter and sparkly party dresses. As a woman I love a lot of the same things, but in more sophisticated ways. Pink is still my favourite colour, but I wouldn't necessarily wear it head to toe. I still love princesses, glitter and sparkly dresses, but I'm not going to walk down the street dressed as one (unless I'm going to a fancy dress party).

When I started making jewellery I knew I wanted to create pieces that captured the magic of girlhood, but in a way that did not feel childish or costumey. I wanted to make jewellery that connected women to the dreamy, wishful and hopeful parts of themselves they may not have felt as close to since being little girls. Being a woman in the modern world can be challenging, but sometimes something as small as a pair of earrings, pendant or ring can inspire imagination and joy.

To make sure my jewellery is sophisticated enough for grown women I use high quality and investment worthy materials such as solid recycled silver and gold, and natural and lab-grown gemstones. I focus on creating elegant, thoughtful designs grown-up enough for adult women whilst still being girly and dreamy.

Examples of this can be seen with my Pixie Earring Charms, which are cute and colourful one of a kind silver hoop earring charms, and my one of a kind dreamy pendants made  with big, colourful gemstones. I create jewellery by following the natural shape of gemstones, which results in unusually shaped rings, earrings and pendants that look dreamlike - almost as if they come from a child's imagination. You can read more about how I define my dreamy jewellery style in my blog post, 'What Is Dreamy Jewellery?'

I describe my jewellery as magical and dreamy girly girl jewellery. As I expand my made to order collection and create one of a kind pieces, this mission statement will be at the forefront of my mind. My goal is to combine whimsy, glitter, dreaminess and magic to create glitzy girly heirloom worthy jewellery.

I loved being a little girl and I love being a woman, and I especially love getting the opportunity to create dreamy, magical jewellery that connects these parts of myself - and hopefully makes other women connected to those parts of themselves too.
